Snoop Dogg Defends Macklemore and Iggy Azalea

Snoop Dogg has no problem with Macklemore and Iggy Azalea being white hip-hop stars. Unlike Azealia Banks who has lots of very negative things to say about the two, Snoop praised them as he discussed the "suburban streak" in hip-hop today during a chat with The New York Times.

"Rap is supposed to grow," the "Peaches N Cream" rapper said. "One thing about Iggy and Macklemore: They got soul. They're inspired by hip hop. I don't care how you're gonna take it to your people and flip it and dip it and serve it."

Snoop's response is interesting, especially because it was just a few months ago he and Iggy were embroiled in an intense online feud. The Long Beach MC started the fight by posting an Instagram photo to criticize the Aussie native's looks. Iggy later blasted Snoop on Twitter, calling him an "a**" in a post.



The interview with New York Times came just days before Snoop's new album "BUSH" hits the stores on May 12. During the chat, he also talked about the funk influences on the Pharrell Williams-executive produced record, saying, "There's a void for that style of music. I think if rap never came out, I'd have been an R&B singer. I would have been like Rick James, though - an edgy renegade."
