Xiaomi Technology Co., based in Beijing, has once again broken sales records with a new achievement: the company sold over 800,000 models of the Redmi Note 2 within twelve hours of its release.
The Chinese smartphone company made the announcement on a blog post.
The device's success "once again proved the high popularity of red rice Note 2, which is a major breakthrough millet network on new starting mode," developers wrote on the post.
The next round of open sales for the Redmi Note 2 will open on August 24.
Xiaomi has also released Mi Headphones and Mi In-Ear Headphones in India, First Post reports.
The news comes as Xiaomi reports lower-than-expected revenue results for the last financial quarters. Huawei Technologies, the company's largest competitor, is reported to have more than doubled its revenue in China.
Xiaomi is the country's fourth-largest mobile phone developer. The company recently expanded into Brazil and is preparing for new markets in Mexico and Colombia.
Officials have already launched stage one of the group's Latin American expansion, making its Redmi 2 smartphone available in the South American country for $160. The device was made available for sale there beginning several weeks ago.
"We offer high-quality products at incredibly aggressive prices, so we're starting with larger developing markets where people are very price-sensitive," Xiaomi Global Vice-President Hugo Barra told Reuters.Expansion into Mexico and Colombia is expected to follow their entrance into the Brazilian economy, which has experienced price drops for crucial resource commodities and growth in unemployment. Mexico and Colombia, respectively, are home to the second and third largest economies of Latin America.
