Justin Timberlake allegedly made light of Kanye West's lengthy speech at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night, August 30. After being called out in Kanye's speech, the "SexyBack" singer wrote on Twitter, saying that the rapper was "cute."
"Kanye is so cute, y'all," said Justin on Twitter. Some fans were quick to react to the 34-year-old singer's tweet as saying that his comment was apparently a diss to Kanye. User @sHy_119 wrote, "He's Being Sarcastic." Similarly, user @jensolo5 tweeted, "I was thinking JT was dropping some sarcasm maybe."Following the backlash, Justin tweeted, "Jokes, you guys... Jokes. #chill." Later on, the "Mirrors" singer praised Kanye after he watched the rapper's full speech. "Btw... I JUST watched my man 'Ye's FULL speech... He always has a point. And I support it. #truth," he said.
During his speech, Kanye called out Justin while giving an example of how awards were sometimes not presented to well-deserved artists. "I sat at the Grammys and saw Justin Timberlake and Cee-Lo lose. Gnarls Barkley and the 'FutureSex' 'SexyBack' album," the 38-year-old rapper said, before coming clean that he didn't throw shade at Justin. "Justin, I ain't trying to put you on blast but I saw that man in tears, bro. And I was thinking like, he deserves to win album of the year."
At the end of his speech, Kanye announced that he's running for the president in 2020. The big announcement got cheer from the audience. MTV also posted on Instagram a picture of Kanye's head on the Seal of the President of the United States in addition to a picture which read, "Yeezus for President, Bruh! 2020."
