The Appeal court sitting in Ibadan
has delivered her judgment in an appeal filed by the candidate of Accord,
Gbenga Adewusi against the March 28th victory of Hon. Dapo Lam-Adesina who
represents Ibadan North East-South East federal constituency.
In a judgment of the 3member panel
read by Hon. Justice (Mrs) AG Meheha, they dismissed the three grounds on which
the appeal was raised and upheld the earlier decision of the Justice (Mrs)
Taiwo election petition tribunal verdict delivered on October 12th, 2015 which
dismissed the petition in its entirety. The judgment of the appellate court
finally put to rest the petition solely sponsored and financed by the
gubernatorial candidate of Accord in Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja on behalf of his
adopted political son and a two-term Chairman of Ibadan North East Local
government of Oyo State.
In his short response to our
correspondent, Hon. Dapo Lam-Adesina stated that the victory is dedicated to
God and the good electorates of his constituency, which he assured of
fulfilling all his campaign promises before the expiration of his mandate in
2019. This judicial pronouncement, the 2nd in 2 months is a wake-up call to
serve our better with all strength and vigour, put smiles on the larger
percentage of all concerned.
On Sunday, March 29th 2015, INEC has
officially declared the scion of Lam-Adesina family the winner of the keenly
contested House of Representative election, having fulfilled all statutory and
electoral requirements, pulling the highest number of votes to beat his main
challenger with close to 5,000 votes. Inside sources within the Accord of Oyo
state revealed that the proprietor of the party, Rashidi Ladoja insisted that
Dapo Lam's victory must be challenged and he provided financial aid to the
legal team
