It was learnt that the woman whose husband, a Ghanaian national, was on night duty in a Chinese construction company, was sleeping in her room at the Friends Colony, Agungi, Lekki, Lagos, with her four children when Maule sneaked into the room at about 5 am and overpowered her.
He then proceeded to rape her. Chinyere was said to have woken up to find the marauding Maule on her and raised the alarm which attracted other neighbours who apprehended the rapist.
